Bizarro. But In A Good Way.

Recently I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of fingerless gloves. Yes, it’s spring but I still have visuals of pairing them with tanks, even during summer nights. I’ve entertained the thought of cutting my leather gloves, but re-considered in the event I actually need a pair of gloves when I go back east for the holidays. So instead, I decided to search online for a pair of cheapish leather (or faux) to DIY and make them into fingerless ones. I actually found a few choice pairs at Target for around $6 on clearance, and thought Score. Then I headed over to AA and while they don’t have leather fingerless gloves, I like their acrylic ones. So now it was between cutting up the Target gloves or going with the AA ones.  And then I found these babies via Nasty Gal Vintage.

They’re (unworn) vintage ’80s leather gloves with perforated details and a suede interior. Are you kidding me? I’ve been searching and searching, and all of a sudden I stumble upon these. It was as if the gods of the fingerless glove world were looking down on me and said this girl needs some serious help, and poof, these entered my life.

Of course, earlier yesterday I also bought this dress from Nasty Gal, on a separate order because the gloves weren’t online yet. Hate when that happens. This is the MinkPink Winona Zipper Dress and is totally early 90’s. Can’t wait to pair it with my Jeffrey Campbell Biz Belted Booties or my UO red combat boots.

On a separate note, I am still 0-3 when it comes to vintage online shopping. I had talked about this leather jacket a few weeks ago, and I ended up swimming in it. Down but not out.

Today’s Conquest

thanks-target1go-international-vest_target2My first online purchase from Target and it couldn’t have been a better buy!  Inspired by the likes of Balmain and Phillip Lim, the Go International Bandleader vest ($35) is a choice layering piece. Yes, apparently it’s sold out everywhere in stores and people are selling them on Ebay, but it’s now online, so get it while you can! Heard they run big, so I bought an XS. Score.

The other day Fashionista brought up a great topic about what you do when either a stranger or friend insults you on your outfit because they plain old don’t like it or the more probable reason, they just don’t get your style. It’s worth reading, as well as the comments. One commenter put it best when she said that she dresses for herself, and no one else. Amen.

Studs Only

steve-madden_top-shop-shoesMy Topshop Aztec-Studded Ankle Boots came in, and I love them!  These also come in red, black and off-white.  The Steve Madden Revenu shoes were an impulse buy today, for the mere fact that I got 25% off.  They’re doing that in-store scratch card promotion where you can get up to 40% off or even a free pair of shoes. Ya right.

Friday FAIL

Seeing as how I spent more than the usual amount on clothes/shoes last month, I told myself I would try not to buy anything this month (though April just started).  And then I see this vintage jacket, and I couldn’t resist. FAIL.

There’s a chance this could be sold out even though I placed the order. Eagerly awaiting the “Item Just Shipped” email or I will be a pissed off girl.  UPDATE: MINE! Soon.  I haven’t had the best luck with online vintage shopping in the past, so hopefully this fits me.  Friday WIN?

jc-bootie3Urban Outfitters blazer. Guess shirt (pulled down). Jeffrey Campbell booties

Got my much anticipated Jeffrey Campbell Biz Belted Booties, and I’m quite sure I could wear these everyday. They’re super comfy. Worth the wait and online stalking.

Updated Material Girl

lady-gaga-09-british-awards Images via StyleCritics.com

Lady Gaga rocked this dress back in February at the 2009 British Awards. Ok, so minus the extreme origami/bubble shape of the skirt and deep plunging sweetheart(ish) neckline , both of which I love, the hot pink strapless number I just bought below is a wayyy scaled down version.  Maybe when I learn how to finally sew, I could tack down a simple side stitch to create some side poofing?  At only $49, how could I resist?

Living In The Moment

topshop-mesh-jersey-playsuitaztec-studded-ankle-bootsDear Topshop, I know you’ve heard this a million zillion times, but when are you coming to LA?  You’d make a killing here.  Oh yea, just got these too.  Will be on Ramen for the next month.
