vintage watches

H&M sweater. Phamous shorts via Pixie Market. Jeffrey Campbell Biz Belted Booties. Marc Jacobs sunglasses. Vintage belt, necklace and watches

These fuzzy leopard print shorts from Pixie Market and this hole-y sweater from H&M are my new favorite wardrobe additions.  Since the shorts are warm and fuzzy, I’ve convinced myself that they will be suitable for winter wear (with tights) and look forward to pairing them with an oversized blazer and boots.

Yesterday Mel and I went to the Long Beach Flea Market, and while it isn’t as large as the Rose Bowl one, I still had fun scouring cases of antique jewelry and digging through piles of watches.  I ended up buying the three vintage watches above for a total of $8.  Best spent money since I bought my ‘Chanel’ necklace last weekend at the Rose Bowl for $5.  Loves it.

If we already aren’t following eachother on Twitter, follow me here.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  xo, Becs

And let me stay here for a while

Urban Outfitters dress worn as top & shorts. Vintage necklace and Cole Haan shoes. Fishnet thigh high stockings from costume store

I’m now convinced that thigh high stockings elongate your legs.  I’ll be flea marketing this weekend at the Rose Bowl and hope to find some good stuff. Have a fabulous weekend!

Flea Marketing

Rose Bowl Flea Market

Rose Bowl Flea Market2UO men’s flannel. Angel dress. Dolce Vita sandals

Yesterday Mel and I hit up the enormous Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, CA, on the hunt for some vintage scores.  It was our second time venturing out to the market after semi-swearing off we’d ever return.  During that initial time, we got way overwhelmed, dizzy and probably stayed for less than two hours.  But I was determined to find vintage floral minis, combat boots, oxfords and rhinestone bib necklaces.  As soon as we arrived, we skipped the antiques, and inherently the jewelry (bummer), and headed straight to the clothing and shoe vendors.  We scoured through the clothes, but I failed at finding any floral mini dresses and instead, got sidetracked by the shoes.  Cheap shoes.  Yes, it sucked lugging those bags around for a good three hours, and that was before I added the last two pairs.

Admittedly, I’ve never been a shoe person until really maybe a few months ago.  These are also my first vintage shoe purchases ever, and so I kind of went overboard by buying seven pairs.  Besides scoring cheap, maybe twice worn Cole Haan shoes (last pair on the right in the second row), which Mel said reminded her of the 90’s (yes!), the other standouts were these Buskens ankle boots with the gold ball studs and side buckles and the Justin Roper boots.  I’ve been online stalking Etsy for Justin Roper boots, and never found anything in my size.  These babies are in amazing vintage condition without any scuff marks, and I will be tempted to wear them everyday.

Pink's

Pink's hot dogs

Pink's nachos and fries

After melting in the heat and failing to find a vendor that sold nachos, we headed to Pink’s Hot Dogs, a Los Angeles staple that never fails to have a line at all hours.  I mean we’ve even gone to this place at 10am just to avoid a line, and there was still a short line!  Mel and I both got the Martha Stewart dog — 10″ stretch dog with relish, onions, bacon, chopped tomatoes, sauerkraut and sour cream (we passed on the sour cream).  It was yummy, but something that you can’t have everyday because well, these pictures scream unhealthy eating.  Nonetheless, it was a great way to end a fab weekend!

Bizarro. But In A Good Way.

Recently I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of fingerless gloves. Yes, it’s spring but I still have visuals of pairing them with tanks, even during summer nights. I’ve entertained the thought of cutting my leather gloves, but re-considered in the event I actually need a pair of gloves when I go back east for the holidays. So instead, I decided to search online for a pair of cheapish leather (or faux) to DIY and make them into fingerless ones. I actually found a few choice pairs at Target for around $6 on clearance, and thought Score. Then I headed over to AA and while they don’t have leather fingerless gloves, I like their acrylic ones. So now it was between cutting up the Target gloves or going with the AA ones.  And then I found these babies via Nasty Gal Vintage.

They’re (unworn) vintage ’80s leather gloves with perforated details and a suede interior. Are you kidding me? I’ve been searching and searching, and all of a sudden I stumble upon these. It was as if the gods of the fingerless glove world were looking down on me and said this girl needs some serious help, and poof, these entered my life.

Of course, earlier yesterday I also bought this dress from Nasty Gal, on a separate order because the gloves weren’t online yet. Hate when that happens. This is the MinkPink Winona Zipper Dress and is totally early 90’s. Can’t wait to pair it with my Jeffrey Campbell Biz Belted Booties or my UO red combat boots.

On a separate note, I am still 0-3 when it comes to vintage online shopping. I had talked about this leather jacket a few weeks ago, and I ended up swimming in it. Down but not out.

Rewind Time

I know, this is totally retro, right? This Claudia Grau vintage jacket was given to me by wonderful co-worker who recalls wearing it during a photo shoot she worked on with Stephanie Seymour. Loving the vibrant colors.  My purple suede Via Spiga boots were a treasured find during my first venture to Nordstrom Rack. I went right before Christmas and stood in a huge line just to get these boots. I remember when I finally got to the register, the sales guy said to me, “You stood in this whole line and all you’re getting is a pair of boots?!” My reply was, “Hey, these are $70 down from over $300… worth the wait!”

The other day, I was watching Zac Effron interview Matthew Perry to promote 17 Again, and Effron asked the question, “If you had the chance, would you rather re-live the past or get a glimpse into the future?” I thought it was interesting, and would agree with Perry in saying I’d relive the past because what if the future really sucks or it’s not how you wanted things to turn out. There are just certain amazing moments and memories that I’ll only experience once with people who are no longer in my life, and I’d love to re-live them again. Oh, to be 17 again…

Friday FAIL

Seeing as how I spent more than the usual amount on clothes/shoes last month, I told myself I would try not to buy anything this month (though April just started).  And then I see this vintage jacket, and I couldn’t resist. FAIL.

There’s a chance this could be sold out even though I placed the order. Eagerly awaiting the “Item Just Shipped” email or I will be a pissed off girl.  UPDATE: MINE! Soon.  I haven’t had the best luck with online vintage shopping in the past, so hopefully this fits me.  Friday WIN?
