Take My Breath Away

Blown away when I did a search on Etsy for ‘origami dresses/skirts’ and found Sarahseven’s collection on Etsy.  The draping, pleats, sweetheart necklines, ruffles and just overall architectural beauty of these dresses are stunning.  Everything is custom order, and the pieces are constructed off a recycled bustier.  The second dress from the top would be my kind of wedding gown.

Invite Me To The Opening Ceremony

Everything is just so amazing (ly expensive). No, but seriously, so amazing it’s like you need to catch your breath. I mean that Alexander Wang leather fringe sweatshirt and mesh mid-wedge are right up my alley.  If only I had the cash flow to blow.

Floral Double-Take

Love Fashionista.com and the ‘Adventures in Copyright’, so when I saw this Wet Seal dress, I had to do a double-take because the print and style looked vaguely familiar. Crap, I mean I just learned my beloved Jeffrey Campbell Biz Belted Booties are Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall ’08 knock-offs.  Not that I care because they are still my favorite thing next to pasta and sleep.

Anyway, here is the Erin Wasson x RVCA Side Show Dress, which we all know and love.  Also available in the blue/purple color at Opening Ceremony.

Here is the Wet Seal dress ($23.50), offered in similar color patterns.

Yes, there are distinct differences in the silouettes.  But I figure, what the hell, I’ll call it out, if anything because they’re offered in similar color palettes.  Sure, the Wet Seal dress has a bubble hem, a ruched waist and is not 100% silk like the RVCA dress, but the similarities warrant a raised eyebrow.

Updated Material Girl

Lady Gaga rocked this dress back in February at the 2009 British Awards. Ok, so minus the extreme origami/bubble shape of the skirt and deep plunging sweetheart(ish) neckline , both of which I love, the hot pink strapless number I just bought below is a wayyy scaled down version.  Maybe when I learn how to finally sew, I could tack down a simple side stitch to create some side poofing?  At only $49, how could I resist?

Luxury Jones: Good For The Style Soul

Just had an O.M.G. moment, filled with a flutter of the heart.  Why have I not jumped on the Luxury Jones bandwagon?  Will be stalking her Etsy store.  Every piece she designs is handmade and amazingly one-of-a-kind.  Seeing her collection makes me want to get rid of my entire closet and start fresh.  Must win lottery. Or gamble in Vegas. Or sign up for Millionaire Matchmaker. (LOVE that show.)

Tastefully Scandalous

SHEER goodness that goes the distance.  The sheer effect lets you show off just the right amount of skin, without straddling the hoochie line.  Did I just really say ‘hoochie’?  Think of it as being tastefully scandalous.

Business in the front; party on the side.  Digging the single cut-out shoulder on the Coming Soon Change Flared Dress ($477), with the surprise side sheer panels.  The Opening Ceremony Slip Dress ($396) adds a modern twist with sheer mesh patches at the top, bottom and sides.  Better make sure you’re wearing your best black briefs since they’ll be out on public display.

Other choice sheerness includes this Mason by Michelle Mason Tank Dress ($209) with lace cut-outs at the waist and bottom.  I’ve had my eye on this Loeffler Randall Overlay Dress ($312) for some time now, but that sale price (down from $625) hasn’t budged in months.   Although more on the classically sophisticated end, it’s also available in black at Goldyn.  I heart Karen Zambos Vintage Couture, and this Harlow Dress in Polka Dot ($215) is no exception.  It’s totally girly with the ruffle trim along the sweetheart neckline, and the emerald color is a bonus.  Finally, for a more simple sheer effect, the LaROK Blue Bon Voyage Dress ($277) is a carefree throw-on.
