Point me in the right direction

Funktional velvet blazer via Nasty Gal. Urban Outfitters men’s Stapleford Buffalo Work shirt. Jeffrey Campbell Carry boots. Topshop bag. Vintage watches

Oh dear Monday, how I loathe thee.  When I was younger and asked the random question about which super power I’d like to have, it was always the same — to fly.  If asked today, I’d want to have the power to freeze time.  Is it me or does it feel as if time is just whizzing by?  In the famous words of Jessie Spano from “Saved by the Bell”:

“There’s no time! There’s never any time!”

OK, end of daily rant.  I’m still feeling blazers/tops/sweaters with structured shoulders.  Since I’m petite, anything that gives me a proportional boost, including in the shoulders, is a plus.  Scored huge with this Funktional velvet blazer from Nasty Gal and can’t wait to next pair it with a bodycon dress/skirt.

The Jeffrey Campbell Carry boots are still available via Solestruck.com. Click HERE to see how I first wore these OTK boots with a casual dress.

If you’re on Chictopia, friend me!  I’m trying to post more often on there.  Thanks to everyone who’s entered my giveaway! The winner will be selected tonight with a post to follow shortly!

Carry me home

Jeffrey Campbell Carry Boots

H&M sweater. Urban Outfitters dress. Jeffrey Campbell Carry boots

Meet my new favorite boots — Jeffrey Campbell Carry — available at SoleStruck.com.  They are my first pair of over-the-knee boots and it was love at first sight.  The flats and wrap around straps had me at hello.

After nearly missing my flight (screw you Continental Airlines, but thanks to the guard who took pity on us and told us to go up the elevator to avoid the super long security line), Mel and I are back home in the Garden State for the next week and heading to Maryland/Virgina for my friend’s wedding.

So I’m officially addicted to Twitter.  Follow me so I can follow you!

And vote for me (Rebecca) or any of your other favorite bloggers for La Mimi’s Favorite Fashion Idol!

I’ve Always Been a Dreamer

FP dress_Zara vest_JR boots

FP dress_Zara vest_JR boots2

FP dress_Zara vest_JR boots3Free People dress. Zara vest. Urban Outfitters bandeau. Nasty Gal vintage fingerless gloves. Vintage Justin Roper boots

Florals + Denim + Combat boots = My dream combo.

I realize this look is not groundbreaking, so I went ahead and did some accessorizing.  I’m still loving tiered ruffles and going for another layered look, decided to throw on this UO bandeau over my new Free People dress/tunic.

Thank you to the fabulous ladies behind two of my daily reads —  Oh So Hip It Hurts for tagging me and Fashionista for giving me an award.

Award

Here are my ten random facts…

1.  I’m most inspired by the trends from the 60’s and 80’s.

2.  I can’t whistle and fake snap my fingers.

3.  I only wear skinny jeans but wish I could pull off the wide leg pants look.

4.  I played the piano for four years… mainly a mix of Celine Dion and country songs.  Yes, I like old school Celine songs.

5.  I’ve pushed myself physically when I completed the Los Angeles Marathon without training (note: I don’t recommend this.) and stayed awake while standing for 24 straight hours for charity.

6.  In high school I was a coxswain for the crew team.  I got to yell at boys and steer a boat.  Good times.

7.  I prefer the grunge and shaggy look over clean-cut in guys.

8.  I had a scar on my face for 13 years, courtesy of Mel.  We used to fight A LOT when we were young.

9.  I am a huge men’s college basketball fan.  This stems from when my school won the NCAA Championship.  Best day ever.

10.  I have 8 piercings… 7 in my ears.

Admittedly, I get bored easily and decided that I was over the last blog template.  This layout feels a bit more open and easier to read.  Hope you all like it!

Missing Out on Men’s Shoes

bess-rollover-shoes_revolve-clothing12Yes, these are men’s shoes. I can’t believe it either. I’ve been missing out if they’ve been making men’s shoes like these BESS Rollover Shoes ($330) via Revolve Clothing. Too bad they’re really spenny and don’t have my size. Finding these inspired me to see if I like any other current men’s shoe offerings.

kitson_endless-velcro-strap-bootsInstantly liked both of these shoes because of the multiple velcro straps, which reminded me of my Jeffrey Campbell Biz Belted Booties (pictured in my last outfit post below).  How rad are these Alessandro Dell’Acqua Grey Vernice Antracite Sneakers ($345) via Kitson? OTOH, the price is not so rad.  A cheaper version is the Shane&Shawn Jonte Sport Boot ($180) via Endless.  Both can instantly dress up a casual outfit.

oak-nyc-bootsBoth via Oak NYC, I’m digging the H by Hudson Kaiser Boot ($332) with the fold-over lux shearling and these Diesel Blue Insignia Time Control Onward Boots ($388).  Like the worn-in look and nice shade of blue.

steve-madden_zappos-bootsThese Rangyr casual oxford boots from Steve Madden ($130) caught my eye because of the fold-over. Again. I don’t know, maybe I need to start re-thinking how I wear my current boots and try folding them over because I like the different look. Via Zappos, these Hugo Boss Prosper Sneakers ($379) would give a major metallic boost to any outfit.

uo_zappos-couture-bootsNext up are these choice combat boots.  The BED:STU Fort Boot ($220) from Urban Outfitters features the distressed leather look, while these patent leather Cesare Paciotti boots ($250) via Couture Zappos are sleek and just plain rad.  Loves.

farfetch_endless-blue-shoesLastly, I discovered these S***R Sequinned High-Top Gene Boots ($134) via Farfetch, and had to confirm I was looking in the men’s section. Only confident/brave men can pull off sequins, right?  Digging the worn-in and distressed denim of these Giorgio Brutini 17224 Boots ($60) from Endless.

I’m a size 8.5 and wear upwards to a 9 (my coveted Jeffrey Campbell Biz Belted Booties and Topshop Aztec-Studded boots are both size 9), so I could pull off a men’s shoe, right?!  Would just need to order either 1.5 – 2 sizes down.  Hott damn. I’m going to start buying men’s shoes.

Don’t Be Like A Virgin

My last two shoe purchases (with the exception of my much anticipated TopShop Chloe-inspired ankle boots) have been from Jeffrey Campbell.  Though I’m totally into the 80’s vibe, I could never rock white boots.

These Jeffrey Campbell Like A Virgin Boots ($168) would be more appealing in black, right?!

Living In The Moment

topshop-mesh-jersey-playsuitaztec-studded-ankle-bootsDear Topshop, I know you’ve heard this a million zillion times, but when are you coming to LA?  You’d make a killing here.  Oh yea, just got these too.  Will be on Ramen for the next month.

Currently overplaying “Oldest Running Feature” by The Grownup Noise.
